We've welcomed Becca, our new curate, and it has been lovely to begin getting to know her and to see her settling into life at Holy Trinity. We're also looking forward to beginning our new Sunday series, Walking with Moses. Moses was certainly not someone who felt ready or equipped for what God called him to do. Yet God met him, called him and promised to be with him. As we follow his story through Exodus, we'll be thinking about what it means to hear God, trust him and respond to his call.
Our small groups are also restarting. We have four groups, and they are a great way to build friendships, pray together, explore the Bible and grow in faith. If you're not currently part of a small group, why not join one this term? Speak to me if you'd like to find out more.
We're also looking ahead to Alpha, beginning on Tuesday 22 September. Alpha is a great opportunity to explore faith, ask questions and discover more about Jesus. Who could you invite – a friend, neighbour, colleague or family member? And if you have questions yourself, you would be very welcome.
Prayer – making space to listen
Our prayer meeting restarted this week, and it was lovely to have record numbers – and two dogs! – with us. It was a joyful reminder that prayer is at the heart of who we are as a church. As we begin a new term, with lots happening at Holy Trinity, it's important that we make space not just to bring our prayers to God, but to pause and listen to him. In the middle of busy lives and busy church life, we need time to be still, to notice what God is doing and to ask where he is leading us. Prayer isn't something we fit around everything else – it is how we seek God and depend on him.
We want Holy Trinity to be a warm and welcoming church where people can discover Jesus and grow as his followers. There are lots of ways to be part of that – welcoming, hospitality, prayer, children and young people, worship or practical help. Our Welcome Team is currently a little short of people, so if you could help occasionally, please do speak to me.
Thank you for all that you do and for your prayers as we begin this new season together.
And finally… how did your sunflowers do? 🌻
Earlier in the year we gave out sunflower seeds with a challenge: how tall could we grow them? It's been a tricky summer, and I'm not sure I've done very well! Perhaps you've done better? Let me know how tall yours got – and do send a photo!

Coming Up This Term
Alpha – starting Tuesday 22 September
Who could you invite?
Alpha is a relaxed space to explore Christianity, ask questions and discover more about Jesus. There's food, a short talk and plenty of opportunity to chat.
You don't need to know anything about Christianity and there's no pressure to believe anything.
You can help by praying, inviting, welcoming, cooking or serving.
Join a small group
We have four small groups, all restarting for the new term. They're a great way to build friendships, pray together, explore the Bible and grow in faith.
If you're not currently part of a small group, why not join one this term?
Would you like to be confirmed?
Bishop Sophie is coming to the deanery in November for a Confirmation Service. If you have never been confirmed, why not consider taking this next step of faith?
Our Welcome and Coffee Teams need a few more people. You don't have to serve every week – occasional help makes a real difference.
If you could welcome people, help visitors find their way around or simply make someone feel at home, please speak to Esther.
