30th August 2026

Sunday, August 30, 2026

As the summer break draws to a close, there is much to give thanks for at Holy Trinity. It has been a busy summer, and it has been wonderful to see God at work among us as we worship, pray, serve and grow together.

A real highlight of the summer was Julia's baptism – a wonderful reminder of God at work among us and of the joy of seeing people take steps of faith. It was also wonderful to welcome Becca as our new curate, and we look forward to Julia beginning her training for ordained ministry this autumn. A small group from Holy Trinity also enjoyed a great few days together at the New Wine Festival.

There is plenty to look forward to this term. Small groups are starting up again, our weekly prayer meeting resumes on Wednesday 2 September at 9.30am, and we are exploring another opportunity to pray together at a time that works better for those who are at work during the day. Our Sunday preaching series, Walking with Moses, begins tomorrow and will take us through September and October as we explore what it means to follow God and trust him.

Alpha begins on Tuesday 22 September – a great opportunity to invite friends, neighbours, colleagues or family to explore faith and discover more about Jesus. Let's pray for those who might come, and ask God to show us who we could invite. There are lots of ways to be involved – praying, inviting, welcoming, cooking or serving. Who might God be prompting you to invite?

The PCC is also working towards appointing youth and administrative support, helping us build on the growth we are seeing and create more opportunities for ministry, mission and pastoral care.

As we begin this new month and term, my prayer is that Holy Trinity will continue to be the warm heart of our community, making Jesus known – rooted in Christ, growing in faith and courageous in sharing the good news. There is a part for all of us to play, so let's pray, get involved and see what God will do!

With every blessing, Esther x

Small Groups – Growing Together

We'd love to everyone at Holy Trinity part of a small group. Meeting during the week, groups are a chance to open up the Bible, pray, encourage one another and build community. They are an important part of growing as disciples and a place to share life and explore what it means to follow Jesus. If you're not currently part of a group, speak to Esther and she will help you find one that works for you.

Alpha – Starting 22 September

Alpha is a chance to explore faith, ask questions and discover more about Jesus in a relaxed and welcoming setting. We'd love everyone to think about who they could invite – a friend, neighbour, colleague or family member. You can also get involved by praying, welcoming, helping with food or serving on the team. You don't need all the answers – just a willingness to invite and welcome others. Speak to Charles or Mark to find out more.

Would You Like to Be Confirmed?

Bishop Sophie is coming to the deanery in November for a Confirmation Service. If you have never been confirmed, why not consider taking this next step of faith? Confirmation is an opportunity to affirm your faith, pray for the Holy Spirit and publicly commit yourself to following Jesus. If you'd like to know more, please speak to Esther.

Omega Course – Starting 24 September

The next Omega Course starts on Thursday 24 September at St Mark's Church, Rugby Road. Running over three evenings and a Saturday until 14 November, it explores death, living well, rights and practicalities, listening skills and supporting others. The previous course sold out, so this one is back by popular demand! For more information, speak to Chantal Meystre (Busby) or pick up a flyer at the back of church. Several people at Holy Trinity have already taken part, so do ask around.
