Stone tablets & wagging tails
A little glimpse of our PCC Away Day β looking at our welcome and our walls, and dreaming together about what God might be calling Holy Trinity to be. Plenty of talking, praying and listening β and coffee too, of course! βπ
It's been another busy week at Holy Trinity β with Alpha getting going, our young people gathering for BASE, the usual round of small groups and prayer, and lots happening across our church family.
Against that backdrop, the PCC gathered last Saturday for our Away Day β a chance for the people who help lead Holy Trinity to pause, step away from the usual business, worship together and discern what God is doing and where He is leading us.
As we prayed and talked, three things came through clearly: a call to go deeper in prayer, to strengthen our shared life as a church family, and a renewed sense of our calling to share the good news of Jesus β helping people discover who he is and the difference he makes.
One thing that came out of the day was a desire to mark our 180th birthday in 2027 with a year of prayer β praying for Holy Trinity, our community and those who don't yet know Jesus, and discerning together what God might be calling us to as we look towards our 200th anniversary.
We'll welcome new members onto the PCC in the spring, bringing more voices into that conversation as we look ahead together. It would be great to have some new members β we need your views and your voice!
Please keep praying for Alpha. It has been brilliant to see people coming through the doors, sharing food and asking honest questions about faith. Please pray for the guests, for Mark and Charles and everyone helping, and that God will be at work in all those conversations.
And this Sunday we have our Pet Service at 4pm β always one of my favourite services of the year! Please pray for everyone who comes, including the Scouts who will be joining us, and for all the opportunities we have to welcome people into church and help them feel at home.
There is lots happening at Holy Trinity, but underneath it all I think we're being reminded of something very simple: pray, listen, follow Jesus and make him known.
Thank you, as always, for being part of it. Esther x
Can you help?
Do you consider Holy Trinity your church? We'd love you to get involved! One of the things we talked about at our PCC Away Day was how we can keep growing as a church family, where everyone finds a place to belong and a way to contribute.
We believe church is at its best when we're all involved β whether that's welcoming people at the door, helping with refreshments, praying, supporting our children and young people, or lending a hand with the many things that make church life happen.
You don't need lots of time or special skills, and it doesn't have to be every week. If you'd like to play a bigger part in the life of HT, have a chat with Esther. We'd love to find a way for you to get involved!
Confirmation β an invitation
Tuesday 10 November | 7.30pm
Bishop Sophie will be at St Mark's for a Confirmation Service, and we'd love to invite anyone at Holy Trinity who is thinking about taking this next step in their Christian faith.
Confirmation is an opportunity to publicly affirm your faith, receive prayer and be strengthened by the Holy Spirit as you continue following Jesus.
If you've never been confirmed, or you're simply wondering whether it might be for you, please come and have a chat with Esther or Becca. We'd love to talk it through with you β no pressure, and no need to have it all figured out!
