Keep an eye out in the foyer! Over the next week, new posters and photo montages will be appearing, introducing you to some of the people you'll meet and giving you a glimpse of life at Holy Trinity.

It's been another encouraging week at Holy Trinity. We're now almost at 100 people on our Electoral Roll — the formal list of people who consider Holy Trinity their church and commit themselves to its life. It's a lovely sign that people are finding a home here and choosing to be part of our church family.

Of course, the number itself isn't the point! We want to see more people discovering Jesus, growing in faith and finding their place in His church. And as our church family grows, there are more opportunities for all of us to play our part — praying, welcoming, inviting, serving and encouraging one another.

This Sunday is our Harvest Thanksgiving, and we'll be thinking about what it means to trust God for today. In the wilderness, the Israelites had to learn to trust God for their daily bread — to receive what they needed for that day rather than trying to store up enough for tomorrow. It's a good challenge for us too!

Harvest is also a chance to look beyond ourselves and share what we have with others. We'll be collecting for the Foodbank, and there are details below about the different ways you can give. Financial donations are particularly helpful, as the Foodbank can buy what it needs more cheaply and Gift Aid can be added where appropriate.

And as we continue to grow, I'd love to encourage each of us to think about one next step. Perhaps that's coming along to Wednesday morning prayer, joining a Small Group, inviting someone to Alpha, coming to the Welcome Tea, or finding a way to help on a Sunday. It doesn't have to be a big thing — just one step.

Please keep praying for Alpha as it begins this Tuesday, and for all those who will come along. And I hope to see many of you at Harvest on Sunday!

With every blessing, Esther x

A FEW WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

New to Holy Trinity? Come to our Welcome Tea

Our Welcome Tea is this Sunday at 4pm at Esther's.

If you've joined Holy Trinity in the last 6–12 months and haven't yet been along, we'd love to see you. It's a relaxed opportunity to meet some other people, hear a little more about Holy Trinity and ask any questions you might have. Please speak to Esther if you'd like to come.

Alpha starts this Tuesday

Could you pray? Could you invite? Could you help?

Alpha begins on Tuesday 22 September, 6.30–8.45pm. Please keep praying for those coming along and for the team. And if there's someone you know who might appreciate the chance to explore faith, there's still time to invite them. You can also help by welcoming, cooking or serving. Speak to Mark or Charles if you'd like to get involved.

Come and pray with us

We really do believe prayer works — and prayer is at the heart of our life together at Holy Trinity. Our Wednesday morning prayer meeting is at 9.30am in the Bethany Room. We pray for the church, our community, our world and one another. If you've never been before, why not come along this Wednesday? You don't need to be good at praying or know what to say. Just come and join us.

Have you found a Small Group yet?

If you haven't taken the plunge yet, now is a good time!

We have three groups meeting each week, with different days, settings and styles. They're a chance to open the Bible, pray, encourage one another, build friendships and explore what it means to follow Jesus in everyday life. If you'd like to find out which group might suit you, speak to Esther or one of our Small Group leaders.

Could you help once a month?

As our church family grows, there are more people to welcome and more things happening — which means we need more people to help make Sunday mornings happen. We're particularly looking for people who can help with welcoming, serving and practical jobs on Sundays. You don't need to commit every week. Once a month would make a real difference. If you've been thinking, "I'd quite like to help, but I'm not sure where I'd fit," please come and have a chat. We'd love to find something that works for you.

HARVEST & FOODBANK DONATIONS

Sunday 20 September

As part of our Harvest Thanksgiving, we're collecting tinned and dried food and toiletries for the Foodbank.

If shopping for extra items isn't convenient, financial donations are especially helpful. The Foodbank can buy more cheaply and purchase exactly what is most needed. Gift Aid can also be added where appropriate.

You can give:

  • By bank transfer: CAF Bank — Holy Trinity PCC Sort code: 40-52-40 | Account: 00035259 Please use FOODBANK as the reference.
  • By card: Use the card machine labelled FOODBANK.
  • By cash or cheque: Please use a yellow envelope clearly labelled FOODBANK.

We'll keep Foodbank donations separate from the usual Sunday offering, so it's clear where your gift is going.

Thank you for helping us support our local community this Harvest.
